Brown CS is happy to announce that effective July 1, 2025, John E. Savage Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Data Science Ritambhara Singh, also a member of the Center for Computational and Molecular Biology, has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure.
Ritambhara came to Brown in 2019 after completing postdoctoral research in the Noble Lab at the University of Washington. Her PhD in Computer Science from the University of Virginia was advised by Yanjun Qi, and it followed an MS from the same institution.
Ritambhara’s research involves developing machine learning models for answering important biological and clinical questions. She leads the Singh Lab @ Brown, which comprises a large group of graduate and undergraduate students, developing and applying machine learning methods with the goal of data integration and model interpretation for biological and biomedical applications.
In the past year, Ritambhara has given invited talks at venues that include the New York University Abu Dhabi; the International Statistics Conference; the University of Melbourne; the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute; the University of Southern California; the Modeling and Computation of Optimal Transport with Applications in Biology Symposium (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics); the University of California, Los Angeles; Columbia University; and Stanford University. She also delivered a keynote address at the first International Caparica Conference on Prescriptomics and Personalized Medicine.
Ritambhara’s recent honors include Brown’s Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, an NHGRI Genomic Innovator Award, and Brown’s Richard B. Salomon Faculty Research Award.
