Brown CS educates 15% of Brown’s undergraduate students and has 10.5% of the University’s course enrollment, but only 4.6% of its regular faculty. [Source] We need your help to supplement substantial investments from the administration in order to meet student demand and support our growth.

Interest in CS at Brown continues to break records, and we’re working harder than ever to provide the outstanding educational and research experience our students expect. Recently, our student/faculty ratio has been in the 180-210 range. The next five highest ratios among other departments at Brown are in the 100-115 range, which we had a decade ago.

The administration is making major investments in the expansion of CS at Brown, as exemplified by our five new faculty hires last year alone. Your gifts will bolster and accelerate this exciting phase of growth.

“As computing has become pervasive in all dimensions of human endeavor, student interest in CS at Brown has experienced huge growth, with the CS undergraduate, PhD, and Master’s programs now being the largest on campus. We are determined to continue making substantial investments in the growth of CS at Brown to preserve and enhance its world-class research and teaching.”

– Brown University President Christina H. Paxson
