Brown University’s Dean of the Faculty gives out five different awards annually to recognize continued excellence in teaching, and this year, Brown CS and Data Science Institute faculty member Ritambhara Singh has received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching for a junior faculty member from the physical or life sciences.
Ritambhara is a member of Brown’s Center for Computational Molecular Biology and her lab develops machine learning methods with broad goals of data integration and model interpretation for biological and biomedical applications. Her research involves developing integrative and interpretable machine learning/deep learning models for important biological and clinical questions.
Ritambhara’s recent honors include an NHGRI Genomic Innovator Award and Brown University’s Richard B. Salomon Faculty Research Award for developing deep learning methods to integrate and model genomics datasets.
“I am grateful to be part of a community that encourages and supports quality teaching and research,” Ritambhara says. “Over the past few years, I have learned a lot from senior colleagues who are excellent teachers and mentors as well as from the programs at Sheridan Teaching Center at Brown.”
Ritambhara is the second Brown CS recipient of the award. A full list of prior honorees is available here.
