Download and install VirtualBox

  1. Visit the VirtualBox website and follow the instructions there.

Create a new virtual machine

  1. Start VirtualBox
  2. Click New
  3. Name and operating system
    1. Give your VM a name you will remember
    2. Select Type Linux
    3. Select Version Debian (64-bit)
  4. Memory size: select at least 2048 MB
  5. Hard Disk: select option Create a virtual hard disk now
  6. Hard disk file type: select option VMDK (Virtual Machine Disk)
  7. Storage on physical hard disk: select option Dynamically allocated
  8. File location and size: select at least 32 GB, we recommend 64 GB
  9. Click Create

Start CS Home Edition Installer

  1. Click the green Start arrow to boot
    1. A wizard dialog should pop up - click the small folder with the green caret
      • Don't see the dialog?  Sometimes it's not there (grrr).  No worries, do this instead:
      • Click on Settings
      • Click on Storage
      • Under Storage Devices / Controller: IDE, click on the CD icon that shows Empty
      • Next to Attributes / Optical Drive, there's a pulldown menu and another CD icon - click on that icon
      • Select Choose a disk file and select the CS Home Edition ISO you downloaded
      • Click OK and skip to step 4, below...
    2. Click Add with the green plus sign
    3. Find and select the CS Home Edition ISO you downloaded
    4. Click Start
