This class will be about computer science research. Selecting research topics, finding research papers, motivating research, designing research procedures, performing research experiments, producing research, evaluating research, describing research, managing research assistants, reading research papers, reporting research, visualizing research results, pitching research, reviewing research papers, ethical research, funding research. Teaching will be done through a light lecture + discussion format, along with in-class activities and assignments. Students will be encouraged to incorporate their own research topics into the class activities and assignments, for example by designing evaluation procedures for ideas in their own research area. So much research, so meta.
