Parallels

Install and Register for Parallels

Visit the Parallels website here to download and install Parallels. Note that you can also get Parallels Desktop on the App Store. Next, to register for Parallels follow the instructions listed here.

Create Home Edition VM and Start Installer

  1. After registering, Parallels should prompt you to choose an OS to emulate. Click on Debian GNU/Linux and Parallels should autodetect the ISO if it is in your Downloads folder.
  2. Ensure that you have the m1 version of cshe installed (i.e. cshe-m1-###.iso) and click on it as the ISO to use.
  3. Before it starts to install, you can edit any configuration settings by clicking on "Action" and then "Configure".
    1. Under "Hardware" click on "CPU & Memory", it should start with 2048 MB but we recommend at least 4096 MB (4 GB).
    2. Note: if it tells you that the Virtual Machine needs to be shut down, you can click on "Actions" and then "Stop" to forcibly stop the VM.

After you've chosen the M1 CSHE image and changed any settings you would like, you are all setup with Parallels and can go back to the installer guide!
