Parking
- Public parking around the CIT (paid via parking meters that accept coins, credit or debit cards, or payment via app) tends to be scarce. There's typically a two-hour maximum, at which point you must move your car. Some streets are reserved for Brown University employees at various times, and parking in one of these "Brown Permit Required" areas will result in a fine.
- Brown has a Visitor Parking Lot in the Power Street Garage at 111 Power Street. The entrance is at the intersection of Power and Thayer Streets. They accept credit cards and bills but do not give change. This detailed map of the Brown campus can help familiarize you with the area.
- Bowen Street and others further north become all-day free parking at 10 AM. We recommend arriving a few minutes earlier to avoid the rush.
Road Construction And Traffic Alerts
- Providence's website contains a list of construction projects that may affect travel to and from the CIT.
- The RI Department of Transportation's Transportation Management Center website offers a Current Traffic Advisory List that shows real-time traffic conditions on Rhode Island highways.
