These requirements take effect with the class of 2028 and are still current. Students in the class of 2027 are strongly encouraged to use these requirements.
The AB requires 10 courses. There is no Calculus Prerequisite for the AB. The CS Concentration Handbook lists any allowed substitutions. With the exception of capstone, no course may be used to satisfy more than one requirement.

2 Intro Sequence Courses: Either 0111/0111E/0150/0170 followed by 0200, or 0190 and another course numbered 0200 or higher

1 Math Foundation Course: 0220 or substitutions as stated in the handbook that provide background in both formal proofs and probability. Students who started at Brown before Fall 2025 may substitute APMA 1650, APMA 1655, or CSCI 1450.

3 Foundations Courses, one in each of
- AI (CSCI 0410) -- students who started at Brown before Fall 2025 may substitute 1410, 1411, 1420, 1430, 1460, 1470, 1520, 1951A, or 1952Q
- Systems (CSCI 0300, 0320, or 0330)
- Theory (CSCI 0500) -- students who started at Brown before Fall 2025 may substitute 1010, 1550, or 1570

2 Technical CSCI 1000-level courses (except CSCI 1970, which goes under electives)

2 Electives, which can be
- Linear Algebra (MATH 520, MATH 540, or APMA 0260)
- An additional Systems Foundation course (only one of 300 or 330 may be used towards the concentration)
- any CSCI 1000- or 2000-level course. At most 1 non-technical course (arts, policy, humanities) may count towards the concentration
- At most 2 uses of CSCI 1970
- At most 1 approved coursesfrom other departments (approved list is in the handbook)

Capstone: one CSCI1000-level course that is (a) from the list of capstone-designated courses and (b) taken in the senior year. This course may also be used to fill another requirement (including Foundations). Pursuing honors satisfies the capstone requirement (via 1970).
