CSCI0111-E
Data-Centric Intro to Computing and Coding Agents
Fall 2026
An introduction to computing and programming that focuses on software design practices for data-rich programs. Students will learn to write programs and applications to process both tabular and structured data, assess programs and program designs, apply core data science concepts, and attend to social responsibility when using computing and data. The course will teach programming both with and without AI-coding agents, with an emphasis on practices for developing trustworthy programs with each. Assignments will have students develop various design artifacts, produce code, review each others' work, orally defend their work, and reflect on their learning. The course is designed for both CS concentrators and non-concentrators. Prior programming experience is neither required nor assumed.
