Our History
Three decades of empowering young women in CS
The Artemis Project was founded in 1996 to introduce rising ninth grade girls to computer science. Artemis ran as a summer program through 2019, and was later revitalized as a school-year program open to all 4th-8th grade students in spring 2025. Over thirty years, hundreds of participants have designed HTML websites, heard from guest lecturers, built mobile apps, learned about cryptography, and even practiced writing instructions to make PB&J sandwiches. The archived websites below offer a window into each past era of the program.
