Grading #
The grade breakdown for both 1380 and 1385 is listed below.
- Exams: 30% (15% \( \times \) 2 exams)
- Project milestones: 45% (5% \( \times \) 6 milestones, 15% \( \times \) 1 milestone)
- Final project poster: 10%
- Class participation: 10% (5% in-class, 5% online/via Ed)
- Quizzes: 5%
- [1385] Final project report: 20%
- [1385] Project milestones + extras: 80% (10% \( \times \) 6 milestones, 20% \( \times \) 1 milestone)
Note that each milestone has extras required for 1385 students, but these are extra credit for 1380 students.
For students in 2380, the final grades are calculated as the sum of \( \frac{2}{3} \) of the 1380 grade and \( \frac{1}{3} \) of the 1385 grade.

We’ll be using Edstem discussion for almost all course-related communication. You can mark questions as private or public. Private messages are seen by all course staff, see the collaboration policy for guidelines of how to choose. You can also use cs1380tas@lists.brown.edu to e-mail the course staff regarding administrative issues. For sensitive issues that you would not like to discuss with the entire course staff, you may email the instructors and head TAs at cs1380headtas@lists.brown.edu.
