Model Traversal, Cont.'d
Geometric transformations and appearance and constraint attributes are passed down the hierarchy as its components are traversed.
- Geometric transformations are composed into the Composite Modeling Transformation Matrix (CMTM) and applied to vertices of subsequent components as they are encountered in order.
- Appearance attributes are not composed (since they are not represented by matrices)
- If child does not specify appearance attributes, it inherits its parent's.
- If child does specify: in Programmer's Hierarchical Interactive Graphics System (PHIGS) it overrides parent's appearance attributes.
