Buffers
Light in the phosphor display of the monitor decays very quickly. Screen must be frequently refreshed (at least 60 times/second) to maintain a constant image without flickering.
Screen is refreshed one scan line at a time from pixel information held in a refresh or frame buffer.
Additional buffers can be used to store other pixel information. For example, we will use a z-buffer later on in which z-values (depth of points on a polygon) are stored (part of VSD).
