(Battlefield Awareness and Data Dissemination)
The aim of the BADD project is to provide a warfighter with information drawn from across the Defense Information Infrastructure, from national and theater sources.It is funded by DARPA, with work being carried out at several different companies and university sites.

At Brown, we are building a simulation package which can be used as a design tool by BADD administrators, for testing out new algorithms and techniques before implementing them on the actual system. This is joint work with the data dissemination group at the Univ of Maryland, CP, and with David Maier at Oregon Graduate Institute.
Some of the issues we are dealing with in this project are: integration
of heterogenous databases and heterogenous networks, bandwidth allocation
schemes for pushing large amounts of data, accurate representation of client
interests through profiles, clustering of client profiles to take advantage
of broadcast techniques, etc.
