The X Factor
In 2010, Harry stood in line to audition for the X Factor in Manchester, England. After waiting hours in line, his number (165998) was called. Harry charmed them over by singing Isn't She Lovely? By Stevie Wonder. Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger were very impressed, however Louis Walsh was hesitant on saying yes. Thankfully, he got 3 yeses and he was put through. However, Simon didn't think he was ready after he saw him again, so he kicked him off as well as Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Liam Payne. The boys were devastated. Thankfully though they only had 10 minutes of disapointment because they were called back on stage and they were put together as a band, because Simon believed they were too good to just be kicked off, and he though the boys would be better if they were in a band. So on July 23rd, 2010, One Direction was created. It was not what they expected at all, but they loved the idea of not going home and actually having their dreams come true.
The 5 boys became strangers to bestfriends almost as soon as Simon told them the news. Harry was so happy and the boys worked very hard on the show. Each week, they performed and always had the fear that they would go home and go back to school. One Direction gained a bunch of fans while on the show, and it was incredible because there would be hundreds of "directioners" packed outside of the X Factor studios every week praying that they would see a glimpse of their heros in person. Harry was very amazed by this, as well as the other boys; he was not used to people screaming his name and crying when they saw him. He didn't want it to end. Sursprisingly though, the boys only came in 3rd place. But they weren't going to give up on their dream. Simon wasn't going to let them either. Even though only the winner of the X Factor was supposed to be the only contestant of the show to be signed to Sony Music, Simon signed them anyway. 4 years later, the boys have released 3 albums, performed at the Olympics, been on 2 tours, (they're in the middle of their tour Where We Are), won more than 40 awards, and have been on a bunch of TV shows. Most importantly though, Harry made 4 bestfriends.
