John Savage--with gratitude from the Computer Science Department for catalyzing our 25th anniversary celebrations, for months of hard work, dedication and leadership, and the ultimate success of all our 25th-anniversary events. Thank you! In connection with the CS Department's 25th Anniversary, and to commemorate Andy's contributions and perpetuate his spirit, his students and friends joined together to create The Andries van Dam Professorship for Teaching and Research in Computer Science. The "Andy Chair" will focus particularly on individuals who carry forward Andy's commitment to integrated excellence in teaching and research. The day culminated in an elegant banquet in Sayles Hall "Snapshots of the Department's Past"--the evening's entertainment took the form of an amusing and at times irreverent history of CS days gone by, delivered with wry humor and great charm by Eugene Charniak
