Course Structure
The course structure involves reading papers, presenting a research paper (individually), leading and participating in discussions, practical exercises with a robot arm, and doing a group research project. The course will start with a few introductory lectures on paper reading techniques, topics and relevant papers in computer vision and robotics, robot tutorials, and project ideas. These lectures will provide the background to do well in the rest of the course.
Before each class, we will read one research paper in either computer vision or robotics. One student will be responsible for presenting the paper and everyone will participate in a discussion. We will also have practical exercises with a robot arm that all students must complete. A few weeks into the course, we will form groups and brainstorm ideas for the final group research project that must use the robot arm in some way. There will be mid-term and final presentations/reports for the final project.
