Dept: Computer Science
Year: Senior
Want to Learn: Best practices (technical/social/practical) when working on a large [software] project.
Other Goals: Experience (working in large groups, working on large pieces of software, design)
Role and Skills: Not sure what roles are available. I do have a good deal experience working with/configuring/building applications on the Linux/MySQL/Apache/PHP stack (so setting up sql databases/apache configurations stuff like that, plus generic system administration stuff). HTML/CSS/Javascript skills (as long as the visual design is not up to me) So as for roles, maybe something logistical? database oriented?
Relevant CS Classes: CS17 CS18 CS36 CS168
Other Experience: Web Director at WBRU for 2 years.
[Some experience learned while write web applications for WBRU:
-if the UI is designed poorly, users may not use it, instead of complaining.
-simple is usually better than complex
-users don't always know what they want]
