Designs on the Land: Exploring America from the Air

Alex S. MacLean

Read April 2003

I don't generally go for coffee-table books, but Alex MacLean is exceptional. One of my favorite photographers, his primary medium is the aerial photograph. His work blurs the distinction between reportage, commentary and art. He works closely with James Corner, whose excellent prose I did not fully appreciate until I read Linklater's book.

I was fortunate to attend a talk by MacLean in Concord, MA, where he was promoting this book. He gives delightful talks, and you should try to find one in your area through his Web site.
