I graduated from Brown with an Sc.B. with honors in Computer Science. Since then, I have worked for what was once Sun Microsystems in an advanced products group Fishworks and currently work for Joyent. I have a blog where I talk a bit about some of the things I have done and other adventures with technology.
While at Brown I focused on systems programming, particulairly distributed systems and operating systems. I also had a focus on the hardware side of things, taking graduate courses in Networks on Chip and Digital Hardware Security with Prof. Dworak. I also did research with Prof. Tom Doeppner.
During my time at Brown, I TAed several courses:
During my spare time I am thinking about building a FUSE layer that would add transactional filesystem support to any POSIX filesystem.
As part of project for Technology House and continuing on for myself, I worked on brining Wiimote control support to our entertainment system.
I have recently finished a good bit of work on StashFS - The Stash File System. It's my senior honors thesis.
While not working on CS related things, I enjoy playing the French Horn and Piano as well as orchestration.
I was the MTA tech during the 2009-2010 academic year. During this time I worked on a few different tools as well as fixing and revamping various other pieces of infrastructure. If there is something that you are curious about, I suggest talking to the current meta-ta tech. The links are kept around for historical/reference purposes.
