• Sturtevant 1913: Measuring distance on the chromosome by the frequency of cross-overs during meiosis.

• For Next Time: Prepare to explain one of the distance measures in Table 8 of Sturtevant.

Thursday, June 27th

• Darwin's On the Origin of Species and the relation between studies of inheritance and studies of evolution.

• Darwin on "Variation Under Domestication" and "Variation Under Nature".

• The role of the "struggle for existence" in Darwin's theory, and the theory of natural selection.

• Are the findings of Mendel, Morgan and Sturtevant compatible with Darwin's theory of evolution?
