My Complicated Family...

"When I say complicated family, I really mean it!"

I have a lot of family...a lot! If I had to pick a side of my family that has the most people, I would probably say my Mom's side. Hey, but don't think that I don't have a lot of family on both sides! The thing is, both of my parents have many siblings. On my mom's side alone, I have more than 8 aunts and uncles. On my step-dad's side, I am not certain, but I can say more than 5 aunts and uncles. More aunts and uncles make for many cousins. You don't want to know what it is like going to parties. You really don't.

All Over the World

On top of having so many aunts, uncles and of course, cousins, they live all around the world. Just to name a few:

I know, crazy, right? While I am not able to talk to every one of my cousins and when my mom talks to them, it's most likely a new person every time, I am glad that I have so many connections. It's crazy to be apart of such a huge family, but heart-warming that even though we might be spread all around the world, we can come together in so many ways.

Social Life...

My social life is one that I find very interesting, but in a good way. I can say that I have, many, many friends. Most of which who are just acquaintances or people that I talk to often, but don't consider as my "best friends". But, I do have an immediate circle of friends that I talk to almost every day and actually do stuff with. I do not know what I would do without them and I know that when it comes to any situation, they have my back and are able to give me good advice. What is also really cool is that they all have personalities of their own. It's cool to see how we interact with each other and what opinions we have. Most of the time, we are joking around! I am sure that they don't mind this, but their names are Abiya, Gianna, Sultan, Aliyah and Madison. They are one of the first people that I go to when I have a problem. With our first year of high school coming up in the Fall, we are all nervous than ever. Unfortunately, we aren't going to the same high school...

Splitting Up

All of my best friends and I have went to the same middle school, Paul Cuffee Middle School. Though we didn't consider each person in our group as a best friend in the first year of middle school ), 3 years is a long time to spend with people. It was bonding time for all of us and we were able to relate and joke about many of the problems that we were having, no matter the aspect. We all wanted to go to the same high school, but things change and each person has parents that have different views. Out of the six of us, three of us are going to the same school...and that doesn't include me. Abiya, Sultan and Gianna are attending LaSalle Academy in Providence. In the beginning, I was going to go to that school; Although, after considering what another school had, Wheeler School, I had to choose otherwise. All I will say about that is that diversity is an important thing to me, as well as programs and oppoortunities. Wheeler was the best fit for me, in all aspects. I am excited to see where I will go. It will be a new environment, especially since it is predominantly White, but it is a chance for me to grow in a larger setting. Aliyah will be going to Paul Cuffee High School and Madison will be attending Village Green School, which is closer to Downtown Providence. I am sad that I won't have one of my friends attending my school with me, but We plan to stay in touch with each other and see each other in person all the time.
