The goal of this website and our trivia game, is to make users aware of the healthy and unhealthy decisions that could affect their physical well-being. The defination of obesity is having too much body fat. However, it is not to be confused with being overweight, which means weighing too much. The weight can come from many factors, such as muscle, bone, fat, and/or body water. Likewise, both terms mean that a person's weight is greater than what's considered healthy for his or her height.
Many doctors are very concerned about how the future of the United States will look with the way things are going. As Dr. Phil McGraw has said, "We are beginning to see a number of serious medical disorders occuring in our children that were previously seen only in adults...all associated with obesity. As a result, this may be the first generation that may not live longer than their parents."
This chart portrays the percentage of obese citizens in every state in America. The imagery is very concerning and we hope to make a change.
Obesity in America has reached a dangerous point. Rates of obesity have gotten to over 20% in every state - as of September 2015. About 78.6 million of those citizens are adults, and about 12.7 million of them are children. Obesity occurs when one consumes more calories than they use. In America, calories are all around us. If the rates continue on their current path, and the amount of fast food places keep going up, WALL.E might happen sooner than expected.
