Research Interest

My research investigates data and resource management issues in advanced distributed systems such as mobile databases, peer-to-peer systems, and sensor networks.

Foresight

Current information systems are designed to be reactive---they perform computation in response to human requests. Future information systems will be more proactive---they will continually process information in real-time with little or no human involvement. Effectively supporting this form of proactive computing and seamlessly integrating it with traditional reactive computing infrastructures require a critical rethinking of many fundamental systems design, implementation, and deployment issues, ranging from information storage and extraction to user and application interfaces.
