Reading Review for Class 5

This class’s readings are:

• Any paper in the NINeS program (https://nines-conference.org/papers)

Your review should include both a summary of these papers, which discusses

• the problem the paper addresses
• the paper’s solution
• the evidence the paper provides that the solution was correct. Remember to keep in mind the historical context the papers discuss.

Your review should also discuss, after the summary:

• whether the problem the paper solved is an important one
• whether the solution was a good one
• whether the paper was fun or enjoyable to read.
• what questions you have about the paper, or which parts of the paper (if any) you found hard to understand.

For this reading, simply write a conference-style review of the paper you chose. Include an “Overall Merit” score (from 1 to 5, where 1 is “Strong Reject” and 5 is “Strong Accept”), and an “Expertise” score (from 1 to 4, where 1 is “No Expertise” and 4 is “Expert”). Include at least a sentence each on the paper’s strengths and weaknesses. Finally, discuss what changes you would want the authors to make to improve their paper if you were the paper’s shepherd.
