Reading Review for Class 1
This class’s readings are:
Your review should include both a summary of these papers, which
discusses
- the problem the paper addresses
- the paper’s solution
- the evidence the paper provides that the solution was
correct.
Your review should also discuss, after the summary:
- whether the problem the paper solved is an important
one
- whether the solution was a good one
- whether the paper was fun or enjoyable to read.
This class we are reading two historical papers, so remember to keep
in mind the historical context the papers discuss. Finally, for this
week’s papers, please reflect on the following questions:
- What features were left out of the Internet’s design? If the
features you identified hadn’t been left out, what might the
implications for the Internet’s growth have been?
- Do the arguments Handley makes in the “Only Just Works” paper still
constrain the Internet today? What about today’s Internet is different,
and what is the same?
- What feature would you like to see the Internet have that it doesn’t
have today? How might you go about gaining adoption for your
feature?
