Reading Review for Class 9

This class’s readings are:

• Starlink
• Magma

Your review should include both a summary of these papers, which discusses

• the problem the paper addresses
• the paper’s solution
• the evidence the paper provides that the solution was correct. Remember to keep in mind the historical context the papers discuss.

Your review should also discuss, after the summary:

• whether the problem the paper solved is an important one
• whether the solution was a good one

The cISP paper argues in Sections 8 and 9 that the terrestrial network they propose would be competitive with the satellite-based Starlink network. Pick an example application from the real world and run your own analysis similar to the one in section 8, both from the application operator’s perspective and the user’s perspective. Which network would likely fulfill the application’s design requirements?
