Interested in earth sciences, I come from a very engineering-oriented background so I would like to expand.

Gain experience in working on projects that have more of a goal than maximizing monetary profit.

I have a strong software development background. Professional experience in converting "user wishes" into usable (and enjoyable!) end product.
Relevant math classes taken (calculus, linear algebra,
numerical methods, signal processing, ode's, pde's, etc.):
calculus, linear algebra and the like, though I am rusty.

Joined a startup while in school in 2004 where we developed cutting edge medical intra-oral scanner. This taught me a lot about the professional world as well as my own strengths and weaknesses.
