Name: Andrew Wald Dept: Biology and Medicine (Biomedical Engineering) Year (Fr, So, Jr, Sr, Gr): Gr - 3rd year E-mail: andrew_wald@brown.edu Want to learn: Grant writing, the entire research process from start to finish, and collaboration methods between researchers with similar interests. Other goals for class: Gain experience in scientific writing. Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring: I would like to test some of my own hypothesis with regards to the wrist modeling, and I bring the skills of having a biological and medical background, solid biomechanics understanding, and a strong grasp on mathematics and code writing. I also feel that I am a fairly proficient writer. Relevant math classes taken (calculus, linear algebra, numerical methods, signal processing, ode's, pde's, etc.): I have taken calculus, linear algebra, signal processing, differential equations (mostly ODEs), mathematical logic, and a few others. It has been a while since I have done a lot of that stuff, but I'm sure it would come back (I hope!). Relevant science classes taken: The majority of the classes I have taken directly apply. Everything from basic biology, to the more advanced therapeutic bioengineering all give some insight into the background information necessary to achieve what I am trying to accomplish. Other relevant classes or experience: As a classically trained biomedical engineer, the majority of my curriculum could be applied in some way to the efforts that I am undertaking now; however, the most helpful classes have been biomechanics, physiology, medical imaging, and basic code writing (C++, MATLAB, IDL, etc.)
