Project Title 1: Auto-Registrar

Brief Description: An application which would allow students to electronically register for their classes.

Identify Local Users: Brown/Any Student Body

Assign a 1-5 score for these criteria
	Useful to others: 5
	Has specific users: 5
	Can be scaled up to PC product: 4
	Divisible: 4
	In C++ on Suns: 4

	Overall: 4.5

Pros: Very applicable in real world and has a set of specific users.  Immediate impact. Something that could actually be implemented/sold at end of the course.

Cons: I am not sure divisible it is and how large a group it would require to implement.

Project Title 2: Evoting

Brief Description A website that is able to fully handle a medium sized election.

Identify Local Users: UCS, Providence/RI

Assign a 1-5 score for these criteria
	Useful to others: 5
	Has specific users: 5
	Can be scaled up to PC product: 5
	Divisible: 4
	In C++ on Suns: 4

	Overall: 4.7

Pros: Very applicable and very necessary.  This is the direction in which voting technology is moving.

Cons: Not sure what this would require. There are many policy problems that require a technical solution such as purging voter rolls, making sure that there is no stuffing of the ballot box etc.

Pro and Con: Would likely require a unique solution, the policy problems require quite a bit of innovative thinking.

Project Title 3: Excitebike

Brief Description A newer version of the popular Nintendo game.

Identify Local Users: Anyone who plays video games (particularly college students who played the game growing up)

Assign a 1-5 score for these criteria
	Useful to others: 3
	Has specific users: 4
	Can be scaled up to PC product: 4
	Divisible: 3
	In C++ on Suns: 4

	Overall: 3.7

Pros: A great, fun game which a lot of people played growing up.  Out of the three ideas, this would be the most fun to implement.  Can be expanded - networked game etc.

Cons: A lot of graphics work which would require some expertise that all might not have.  Not sure about the size of the project.
