Project Title 1: MozillaCQ

Brief Description: MozillaCQ is the Linux-based web browser with enhanced features like popup blocker and a messenger program like ICQ is built in the browser.  

Identify Local Users: any undergrad/grad/faculty/staff 

Assign a 1-5 score for these criteria
       Useful to others: 5
       Has specific users: 2 
       Can be scaled up to PC product: 5
       Divisible: 4
       In C++ on Suns: 5

       Overall: 4.2

Pros: Nowadays using computer means surfing the Internet, so web browser is one of the most frequently used program and the demanding for messenger is increasing.

Cons: Must comply with the currently dominant web browser and messenger program

Project Title 2: "Restricted" KaZaa

Brief Description: Online file sharing system-basically works the same as KaZaa or Gnutella but we can restrict the kinds of files to be shared. Current version of KaZaa let other users access your entire file without restriction. 

Identify Local Users: undergrad/grad/faculty that are willing to share files with others.

Assign a 1-5 score for these criteria
       Useful to others: 2
       Has specific users: 4
       Can be scaled up to PC product: 5
       Divisible: 4
       In C++ on Suns: 5

       Overall: 4

Pros: Can prevent some files (which are not intended to be shared) from being shared

Cons: useful for some users but not all users

Project Title 3: Personal Secretary

Brief Description: I have always thought that it will be very fancy if everybody has his/her own secretary on his/her computer. The secretary can act like a real secretary by giving it "personality". The basic duty for the secretary is chatting with the user, showing the schedule to the user.

Pros: If successfully built, it can give the computer user a sense of closeness to computers

Cons: We need to do lots of GUI's
