Identify Local Users: Brown students, anyone who needs to communicate Assign a 1-5 score for these criteria Useful to others: 5 Has specific users: 4 Can be scaled up to PC product: 5 Divisible: 3 In C++ on Suns(?): 3 Overall: 4 Pros: Very useful. Something that I think almost everyone, not just cs majors, would use Cons: Not sure how divisible this is. Getting it to work on windows and linux may be difficult. Unsure as to the difficulty of this project. ======================================================================= Project Title 2: Prometheus Brief Description: An integrated development environment for linux Identify Local Users: CS students/faculty, linux users Assign a 1-5 score for these criteria Useful to others: 4 Has specific users: 4 Can be scaled up to PC product: 3 Divisible: 5 In C++ on Suns(?): 5 Overall: 4 Pros: This is something that I think would be found useful by many people. There is a wide pool of people to get input on this project from. Cons: Microsoft has lots and lots of people working full time on their popular product. We have 10 people with busy schedules and a few months. This is a very big project. ======================================================================= Project Title 3: Athena Brief Description: Works with browser (plugin?) to inteligently block adds, pop-ups, and make browsing a more pleasureable experience Identify Local Users: anyone Assign a 1-5 score for these criteria Useful to others: 4 Has specific users: 2 Can be scaled up to PC product: 3 Divisible: 2 In C++ on Suns(?): 1 Overall: 2 Pros: Intereseting and useful application Cons: Perhaps to small and easy of a project Several commercial versions already exist ========================================================================
