Project Title 1: Personal Finance Management

Brief Description:
Software to manage personal finances- bank account statements, credit card bills, phone bills, mortgages, bill payment, investments, budgeting, taxes, etc.

Identify Local Users:
Any one with money. =)

        Useful to others: 1
        Has specific users: 1
        Can be scaled up to PC product: 1
        Divisible: 1
        In C++ on Suns: 2

        Overall: 1

Pros:
Can be very useful, if implemented properly.

Cons:
Difficult to interface with all the different sources (banks, credit card companies, phone companies, etc.)

Project Title 2:  Brush Strokes	

Brief Description:

Graphic program that simulates actual build up and movement of paint on canvass.  Simulates movement of paint based on paint fluidity, drying time, canvas texture, brush shape and pressure, and amount of paint on brush.  

Identify Local Users:

Any artist (RISD)

Assign a 1-5 score for these criteria
        Useful to others: 3
        Has specific users: 1
        Can be scaled up to PC product: 1
        Divisible: 1
        In C++ on Suns: 1

        Overall: 1

Pros:
This would be a fun product to play with.

Cons:
This would be difficult to realistically simulate paint movement.

Brief Description:

Remote access to a computer through a web browser. (Similar functionality to eXceed, but through a web browser. No need to install extra software.)

Brown CS students, telecommuters, any one who would want to connect to their computer remotely to access files/programs

        Useful to others: 1
        Has specific users: 1
        Can be scaled up to PC product: 1
        Divisible: 1
        In C++ on Suns: 1

        Overall: 1

Pros:
Very useful to anyone who works on more than one computer or needs access to software/data on other computers.

Cons:
Difficult to make secure.
