Want to learn: how to work on large projects, how to work in large groups, how to work on the same project for a really long time
Other goals for class: remember my programming skills after a semester away from CS :)
Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring: I'd like to be just another programmer in a group, not a group leader or anything, since I don't like having to get on people's cases to do things. I think I'm pretty good at debugging, so I guess that's a skill I bring.
Relevant CS classes taken: all the core classes

Christopher Filippis Dept: Computer Science
Year : Senior
E-mail: ravenlord@brown.edu
Phone(s): (401) 867-4559
Want to learn: Modular programming and code design that allows easy third party additions (i.e. plugins).
Other goals for class: Get some more experience in working on large projects with design schedule, and group interactions.
Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring: I know a fair amount about graphics, and have worked with the Qt system for gui design. I also have worked a lot with networking, and am also probably taking the networking class (196-5) to further my knowledge of network protocols. Finally, I have experience with SQL databases, dynamic web page coding, and XML parsing for defining formats of information storage.
Relevant CS classes taken: cs123, cs127, cs169, cs141, cs196-5 (taking concurrently)

Joseph Fuqua Dept: CS - B.A.
Year (Fr, So, Jr, Sr, Gr): Sr. '00.5
E-mail: Joseph_Fuqua@brown.edu
Phone(s): 273-8766
Want to learn: How much of software engineering is programming and how much is working in groups. How much time and performance compromises play in actual development. IN short how much of the "perfect" programming solutions and skills I have learned will actuall be followed.
Other goals for class: Find out how close I want to work to the code. I have only had the opportunity to work as a programmer and want to see how far into management (and thus away from code) I want to get.
Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring: I see myself contributing in more logistical and design oriented ways. Compatability and scheduling come to mind. My skills are really in working with and oraganizing people toward gaols. Making compromises, making deadlines and focusing energy on most critical problems.
Relevant CS classes taken: 15, 16, 31, 32, 127
Other relevant classes or experience: Engin 9?

Want to learn: I am interested in getting better at design and I am interested in working in a large group on a project from begining to end.
Other goals for class: I would like to enjoy the process of designing and writting this program. As well as work on something I am interested in and hopefully something I could possibly use after this class.
Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring: I would like to be a designer and organizer in the project. I am also interested in doing something graphics related, though I would be willing to do some other part of the project.

Michelle Neuringer

Dept: Computer Science
Year (Fr, So, Jr, Sr, Gr): Senior
E-mail: mjn@cs.brown.edu
Phone(s): 831-0226
Want to learn: how to brainstorm and code effectively in large groups
Other goals for class: help me figure out the part in the software project lifecycle I'd most like to play (if any!) when I leave Brown. Contribute to a project I feel somewhat passionate about.
Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring: ideally, I think, a role that involves lots of "design" work -- both high-level design (for the entire project, like a Project Manager) and visual design (UI, g raphics). I bring object-oriented design, leadership and artistic skills.
Relevant CS classes taken: 15, 16, 32, 123
Other relevant classes or experience: visual art, lots of creative writing classes (can we integrate that into a project?), hypertext, computer music.
Freddie O'Connell

Dept: Music/Computer Science.
Year (Fr, So, Jr, Sr, Gr): Sr (5-year AB/ScB).
E-mail: tfo@brown.edu.
Phone(s): 401-831-4626.
Want to learn: more C++, more design skills.
Other goals for class: work on an interesting project.
Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring: it seems as though any project in this class is structured such that my role would be significant. i don't want to be handed some set of specs and just be told "code this". i want to make sure to establish a good group dynamic. most of the internships i've had over the past few years have required my obtaining specific requirements from users around me and implementing utilities on my own or in small groups. i have a fair amount of experience with project design and establishing specifications and meeting requirements for those projects.
Relevant CS classes taken: cs015, cs016, cs031, cs032, cs123, cs126, cs157, cs167, cs196-5.
Other relevant classes or experience: TAing cs017/018.

Phone: 272-8245 (home) 872-8076 (pager)
Want to learn: I want to learn about developing software in groups larger than CS132 (now CS32), and I want to experience the group dynamics involved.
Other goals for the class: I want to pass -- preferably with an A. :)
Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring: I understand that not everybody can be a Chief, and I would actually prefer to be a little Indian. Skills? If anyone happens to crash during a meeting, I could provide CPR and some basic ACLS. I also happen to be a pretty decent programmer with an interest in AI and data compression (mostly non-lossy).
Relevant CS classes taken: These are all the CS courses I've taken -- their relevancy is really dependant upon the project which we undertake and the niche I fill.
