Want to learn: Yes. I also want to gain experience dealing with the entire (or, at least, most of)
the lifecycle of a complete project.
Other goals for class:
-Graduate
-Gain experience with the tools of SW design
-Try to, if possible, show up hungover less than once a week
-Be sure that, whatever I do, it sounds good in job interviews.
-Make something awesome.
Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring:
AI, Graphics, Punctuality.
Relevant CS classes taken:
32, 123, 141, 196-1 [now 195-3]
Other relevant classes or experience:
Not knowing what project I'm going to be working on, it's hard to say what's relevant.
Here's some stuff that might be:
AM120 [Operations Research: Probabilistic Models]
AM165 [That probability and stats stuff]
AM193 [Hold'em Poker; yeah, that was a class]

Want to learn: Since CS32 comprises most of my group programming experience (and I worked in a group of only 3 students) this is definitely something of a new experience for me and something that I would like to learn more about during this course. I would like to work on learning how to interact and work with a large group of people and how to minimize the many unavoidable innefficiencies that that comes with.
Other goals for class: I have never attempted to work on a large scale C++ project and look forward to the challenge but hope to have it go as smoothly as is possible. Another goal for me is to get a better understanding and intuition about how to split up projects as efficiently as possible for group work. I am also excited about creating something that is useful since many earlier CS projects, while extremely value as teaching tools, are not quite usuable in the everyday context.
Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring: I'm not quite sure where I would like to fit in the project, but possibly like to try something from more of the managing side, possibly the manager or librarian. Before really deciding where I fit, however, I feel it is necessary to have more of a feel for the dynamics of the particular group that I will be in.
Relevant CS classes taken:
I've taken the main CS core: CS15 CS16
CS31 CS32
CS22 CS51
My C++ experience comes from: CS34 CS123
CS32 and a 3 person group is probably the largest group that I've worked with.
Besides 190 I am currently taking: CS157
Other relevant classes or experience:
I have been a TA for CS16 and CS31 and am currently an HTA for CS16.

Want to learn:
how to design on a large scale
Other goals for class:
learn time management for large scale projects
Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring:
I'm really interested in the project manager role
had some experience organizing / planning for large groups
enjoy planning :)

Want to learn: Working with groups
Other goals for class: Dividing large-scale projects into steps
Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring:
Manager is a preferred role, or anything besides librarian. I am
skilled in visualizing the general architecture of a large program
(relationship between various layers and classes), especially in
an object-oriented environment.
Relevant CS classes taken: CS 161, which involves the design and
coding of a fully functional IMAP server.

Want to learn: Group design and development outside of individual coding.
Other goals for class: Survive and gain a perspective for understanding the corporate software engineering environment.
Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring: In terms of programming, interface is my biggest interest. In terms of a group, I have no interest in being a project manager, but I'm fairly good at mediating conflicts and acting as a springboard for brainstorming and problem resolution.
Relevant CS classes taken: Kinda vague question. I've taken the required ones.
Other relevant classes or experience: Even more vague. It would be far more useful to ask me in a week or two. For now, I've taken three years of Akkadian and Sumerian, not to mention the fact that I'm also a Poli Sci major, so I'm a pretty patient person.

Want to learn:
design techniques (disambiguation, encapsulation, etc.)
Other goals for class: have fun, create something interesting and useful
Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring:
I'm interesting in managing the overall design and implementation
of the project. I have good clarification/communication skills
which I believe are essential for someone who is acting as a link
between multiple interacting components of a larger project.
Relevant CS classes taken:
The following classes that I have taken all required group work
at some stage.
17, 32, 141, 168, 173

Other goals for class: See a commercial scale project through to (beta) completion
Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring: Testing-experience as a test engineer at Microsoft. Also would like to contribute to UX and feature set design.
Relevant CS classes taken: 15, 32, 34, 123
Other relevant classes or experience: intensive lab design class at UC Berkeley involved integration of many custom designed components; organizational roles in work at computer camp (as a counselor), as editor of the Brown Jug, etc.
