Welcome to the Fall 2026 CSCI 1730!
We’ve completely redesigned the coure around the way that AI has impacted programming
over the past year.
I thought about this question all through Spring 2026, and wrote
this
document
in June 2026 to crystallize my thoughts and get comments from
colleagues and the public. Now all those proposed ideas have been
implemented, and you’ll be the first to see them!
It’s new, it’s raw,
it’s experimental—
Some tips for learning the material well and doing well in the course:
Attend class and engage in the peer instruction activities that are taking place.
Pay attention in class. You help one another if you do so.
Read the text and explain things to yourself as you go along.
Almost everything in the design of this class is
driven a significant body of
research. This may not always be apparent, but everything we
do is for a reason. If in doubt, ask!
