Generating Hybrid Images Using Gaussian and Laplacian Pyramids

Configuring the Code

• With minor changes in the Setup Cell of the "proj1.m" the script would generate the Gaussian and Laplacian pyramids of the given images.
• Suppose we want to create a hybrid image of X and Y, the script expects the images to be in "../html/images/X_Y/" folder.

Extra Credit

• Used Color in all hybrid image creations.

  The use of color from the low or high freq images depends on the image. It works best if we take it from the both. The code works without issues for rgb as well as grayscale images. The variable in the optional section of Setup Cell rgb only determines the the type of o/p image.

• common_crop.m, output_images.m

  If configured properly during the setup phase the script will also dump the gaussian and laplacian pyramids (after cropping to the same dimensions the final hybrid image was chosen) in a "pyramids" named folder in the image folder. It increases the intensity of the laplacian by 10x so that the minute intensities are visible in the images.
