BosBike 2
1 What is This Assignment’s Purpose?
We’re continuing with the bikeshare data! You’re going to confront the realities of producing answers that people have to make decisions about on real data.

Note: This assignment is due at 8pm. You must submit your solutions to Gradescope by 8pm to not be considered late.
Based on the questions you generated at the end of BosBike 1, we course staff have chosen some of the most interesting ones. Imagine that these are the questions that someone needs answered to make decisions for Bluebikes. All distances are in miles and all times are in minutes:
Computing distance “as the crow flies”, what is the average speed of all the rides ever taken?
For each pair of stations (A, B), compute the difference in the number of rides between them. (For instance, if the number of rides from A to B was exactly that from B to A, the difference would be 0.) Order the pairs by the ones that are most asymmetric first. List the stations in the pair in alphabetical order. If two station pairs have the same difference, break ties also using alphabetical order.
Consider the region with the following bounding box coordinates:
(42.3614936, -71.0733224) (top left),
(42.3614936, -71.0593091) (top right),
(42.3481735, -71.0733224) (bottom left),
(42.3481735, -71.0593091) (bottom right).
In this region, what’s the farthest point from any Bluebike station?
What is the difference between member riders and casual riders? Describe this in terms of the average distance and average ride duration. Produce a single result for each by subtracting casual from member (so the result would be negative if the casual riders use it more).
What percentage of bike rides begin and end on different days?
Your job is to implement these.
Your answers should be computed over the real datasets: one each for the month and year datasets. The datasets in BosBike 1 were cleansed in various ways, so you could focus on question-generation. Now, you’re working with actual datasets as they exist on the Web.The file stations.csv is the same as before, and remains cleansed, even though the original is not as clean. You will want to cleanse the data first, before you start to write code. You may even find you need to go through multiple iterations of cleansing.
Scan the list of answers already posted.
If you see your answer already on the list, ❤️ it.
If you don’t see your answer already on the list, double-check! If it’s really not there, add it as a new answer.
Please ignore minor syntactic differences: e.g., 3574 vs 3,574, unless of course they are actually significant.
Remember that this assignment is due at 8pm.
4 AI
You are welcome to use AI for this assignment. If you do, you should use our AI setup (Software). Keep in mind that you take responsibility for the work it does! You should understand its output and be able to answer questions about it. Treat it as an aid to your work, not as a substitute for your work.
