The result display window

The result of each calculation is displayed by a calculator in two ways, as a number and as a sequence of symbols. Remember that each symbol has a two-digit numeric representation. A string of symbols is represented by a number in the way you would think; there are two digits in the number for each symbol in the sequence. For example, the symbol string "abc" is represented by the number 010203. Of course, this number will appear in the calculator's numeric display as 10203 because leading zeroes are omitted.

Above the result display window is the calculator's label. The label's only purpose is to give you information about what role the calculator is playing. It doesn't affect how the calculator behaves.
