Finding the MarkCalc

If you have trouble with some of this, it might be helpful to take a tutorial in Macintosh basics. Brown offers classes and the consultants in CIT Room 101 can help you with problems.

  1. If the Macintosh is off, turn it on by pressing the rightmost top key with the triangle on it, then wait a while.
  2. If someone is logged in, log them out by moving the mouse-point over the word "logout" and pressing the mouse-button.
  3. Log in by pressing the login button on the menu, and following directions.
  4. Click and hold the apple menu located on the top left hand side of the screen.
  5. Drag the mouse-point down to "Servers" and then across to select the CLUSTER_CLASSES server.
  6. Click on the CS0007 folder to open it, and open the Course folder.
  7. Click the calculator icon labeled "MarkCalc" to start the MarkCalc.

If in Step 5 the word "Servers" does not appear, replace that step with the following substeps.

  1. Instead select "Chooser".
  2. Click "AppleShare" in the upper right corner, and then click on "brn_Cluster_Services" in the bottom right window.
  3. Click on "CLUSTER" in the right window and then OK.
  4. Choose "NetWare Encryption" as the login method and hit OK.
  5. Type in your User ID and password if it prompts you.
  6. Highlight CLUSTER_CLASSES and click OK.
