Isosurface Algorithim

Project Overview

The Center has developed scalar and vector field visualization algorithms primarily aimed at large-scale scientific computing applications on unstructured grids. A new isosurface algorithm has been developed that reduces the complexity of the search phase from O(n) to O(sqrt(n)) [LIVN96]. This algorithm has recently been parallelized and run on large data sets (10 - 20 million elements) at the Los Alamos National Laboratory [SHEN96a].
