Alexander Tarvo - personal information
I was born in 1981 in Tallinn, Estonia. When I was 3 years old, our family moved to Chernigov, Ukraine (that's where all the mistakes in my English are coming from). After getting my masters in Computer Science in 2004 I started working at Microsoft in Redmond, WA. Redmond was a great place in all aspects except the weather, so after living there for five years I decided to move out. Grad school seemed to be a natural choice, so I entered the Brown University in Providence RI.
Although I am a computer scientist, I'm not a complete nerd. At least, I'm trying not to be one. I am married and have a wonderful son, Antony. Besides traditional reading books, watching movies and playing videogames my hobbies are:
- traveling and hiking. I enjoy travelling abroad; my favorite place is Europe. Also I like hiking and camping in the wild;
- astronomy. I've got my first telescope when I was 10. Currently I own Orion SpaceProbe 130ST EQ 5-inch reflector. Hopefully, if I will survive my grad school I'll get something more powerful;
- everything related to military history
