Vertica Tech Talk
Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at 4:00 P.M.
Lubrano Conference Room (CIT 4th Floor)
Vertica Systems is an innovative startup in Andover, MA, developing a new kind of database technology for multi-terabyte data warehouses. Co-founded in 2005 by industry pioneer Dr. Michael Stonebraker, Vertica's column-oriented distributed database running on cheap, industry-standard Linux hardware can beat conventional row-stores by orders of magnitude on both price and performance. This talk will describe the benefits of a column-oriented database architecture, why it is particularly relevant in today's hardware and the many key technical innovations that make Vertica blindingly fast, scalable and extremely easy to use.
