Reaction for: Algorithm Animations by Andrew Schulak

I think what is important to note about this paper is that we cannot effectively "place all of our eggs into one basket" when it comes to teaching. We need to provide students with many opportunities to learn the materials. As stated, giving them an animation tool didn't really help in and of itself. Perhaps it didn't really even matter that it was an animation tool but more that it was just another vehicle to learn. The text-only people only had one way to learn whereas the animation people had two.

I think we can best serve our students by providing many interesting and diffuse ways of learning. Animations, interactive skits, lectures, labs, whatever. The more opportunities we give them to learn and the more ways we try to capture their imagination the better off they will be. There's some quote like "one person's cave is another person's castle." I think learning is very much like this. There is no one great way to teach. Just lots of ways that are all beneficial to different people.
