4.27.00 - Strategy Meeting

On Thursday, April 27th, our group met in the MSLab to discuss the final stretch of our project. We discussed changes that we could make based on the insightful comments of our classmates as well as listed things that we need to do in order to bring the project to its completion. We made a few major changes in our design - we abandoned the idea of using triangles because we agree with our classmates that may cause an extra complication. We also decided to change the navigation slightly so that one would not need the extra step of clicking on the square. We decided to change the lines of the grid to be thinner so that the shapes can be more easily identifiable. Finally, we decided to change some of our color schemes and replace little squares on the menu chooser with color drops.

Overall, we made a crude list of what needs to be done and how:

  • Change colors
  • Change pallet size
  • Change shapes
  • Change buttons
  • Change grid lines
  • Color the fly
  • Add sound
  • Add perimeter fields
  • Add meaningful behaviors to the fly
  • Figure out calculation of area and perimeter
  • Devise algorithm for the fly's help (area and perimeter)
  • Add backspace and calculation capabilities to text boxes
  • Make a front page with colors and pictures
  • Make a shape maker button and a shape library
  • Add a tutorial
Obviously, there may be other things that we have not thought of and new obstacles on the way, but for now we decided to work on some simple tasks and reconvene on Sunday at 9:00 to work together on the rest of the project.
