Name: Scott Houde Dept: Computer Science Year (Fr, So, Jr, Sr, Gr): Masters Want to learn: I'm interested in learning more about visualization. Other goals for class: Just to learn and expand my horizons. However it would be great if I could take the things I learn in class or working on the project and be able to take that back into my work. Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring: I've been involved in lots of project teams and I do very well in communicating with people of different backgrounds and expertises. I can help layout a project timeline and keep people on schedule plus I've often been called on to do presentations and have no problems with public speaking. My graphics and UI experience would be helpful with those aspects of a project Relevant CS classes or skills (graphics, UI, 3D graphics, GL, languages, vision, ML): CS123 and CS224 and then TA and HTA respectively for those courses. Then an UI class and a graduate level HCI seminar class both with Jeff Huang. Relevant math classes or skills (calculus, linear algebra, numerical methods, signal processing, ode's, pde's, etc.): No math classes this millenium but graphics involves some linear algebra and integration. I have also been exposed to and done some statistics and design of experiments/design for manufacturing analysis. Relevant science background: None recently but I have the basics and my undergrad is in Industrial Management and I worked for five years in a FAA repair station for plane engine components. At one time I was certified for aluminide coatings and repair. The last 15 years or so I've been mostly in business system or business reporting positions in various fields. Other relevant classes or experience: No other classes just a lot of experience in the real world.
