Name: Nicholas Catoni Dept: Neuroscience/Literary Arts (Undergraduate), Computer Science (Graduate) Year (Fr, So, Jr, Sr, Gr): Gr, 5th Year Master's Want to learn: I wouldn't say I'm coming into the class with a specific goal as I'm interested in the field covered by the class as a whole. I've heard about the awesome abilities of the Cave, and I'd love to use it for a project. Other goals for class: Get at least a B Role you would like to play in a project and skills you bring: Seeing as I'm lacking in the graphic skills that are likely necessary for this class, I think I'll be most beneficial to a group in terms of background research, the written portion, and the general science/math involved. I also consider myself to be very organized, so implementing a plan of attack and keeping everyone on the same page would be another good role for myself. I'm also fairly well versed in statistical analysis. Relevant CS classes or skills (graphics, UI, 3D graphics, GL, languages, vision, ML): In terms of coding courses I've taken at Brown, I only completed CS17/18, so I'm familiar with the languages covered in those courses, mainly Java. Relevant math classes or skills (calculus, linear algebra, numerical methods, signal processing, ode's, pde's, etc.): I've taken a wide array of math courses, including CS145 and CS155 (i.e. probabilistic methods), Computational Linear Algebra in the Applied Math Dept, Computational Neuroscience in the Neuro Dept, as well as a general stats course. Relevant science background: My undergraduate degree was an ScB in Neuroscience, so I've taken multiple courses in the discipline, highlighted by Computational Neuroscience and Computational Vision in CLPS. I specialized in computational modeling for my Neuro degree, so scientific visualization isn't completely foreign to me. Other relevant classes or experience: The above probably covers it.
