Remote Filesystem Access

The department's networked filesystem can be accessed from an unsupported system using the CIFS protocol. You must connect from a computer on the self managed network or while connected to the VPN.

Server Information

The GPFS filesystem shares can be accessed by connecting to cifs.cs.brown.edu and logging in with your cs.brown.edu username and Kerberos password:

Server:cifs.cs.brown.edu
Domain:cs.brown.edu
Username:cs.brown.edu\username (e.g. cs.brown.edu\djm)
Password:Your Kerberos Password

Please note the "cs.brown.edu\" before your username!

Available Shares

The server provides a share for every volume listed on the filesystem page. In addition, two special shared are provided:

dfsProvides a Linux-like view of the filesystem
usernameYour home directory (the name of the share is your username)
